Extensions designed to enrich your browsing experience

I had uploaded the final version of modern scroll 3.0 to Opera's catalog already, but now, here's another RC ๐Ÿ˜ฎ …

Get modern scroll 3.0 RC 8 now

I uploaded both, version 2.4.4 and version 3.0, to Opera's catalog. They are pending approval now.

So why stepping back?

  1. Andrรฉ & Netmain spotted that modern scroll looses all of its settings as soon as you restart Opera (thx for reporting it guys)
  2. Opera's extension guys declined the uploaded version (not because it looses settings – they didn't know, but) because its description isn't available in all used languages

Changes in RC 8:
new: modern scroll also takes over downward scrolling by pressing the space bar (thx kapsi for reporting)
fix: picture scrolling @ vk.com (thx Maxim for reporting)
fix: superbar updates correctly when toggled via contextmenu
Changes in RC 7:

  • all translations that I got until now are in it
-> thx to all of you who contributed so far (special thanks to Andrรฉ who managed to achieve 100% for Portuguese translation in no time)
-> only 6 out of 12 languages are ready for release so far (3 of them are done by myself) :worried:
  • height of the horizontal bar of page's elements is correct

Changes in RC 6:

  • loosing settings on restart should be history
-> I had to realize that
    object = { key : value }; isn't equivalent to
    object[key] = value; but to
    object["key"] = value; :doh:
  • removed CSS & JS workarounds for Presto's DSK-375403
  • unified localization system

I would have named this version "final", too, but since it's going to take some time to get all translated descriptions, there probably will be some further polishing until its publication.

Keep your eyes open and please please please don't forget to head over to modern scroll on Transifex so we can get those necessary translations done quickly :headbang:

  1. Thanks for sharing why it was not working. I'm helping the conversion of another extension and based some of the work in modern scroll, I'll have to fix these too :DPortuguese translation is finished, so there's no hurry. I still want to read the ToS.

  2. Great extension. Would it be possible to add an option that makes scroll bars never show up? Also, would be nice if this worked in speed dial stash and discover.

Glad, that my code actually seems to be useful to other people :love:Originally posted by An-dz:

Are you talking about options page only or description, too?Originally posted by max1c:

Glad you like it :)Are you talking about Opera's/Chrome's default scroll bars? Then the answer is no.If you're talking about modern scroll's bars:1) if you want them temporarily to vanish, right click them and hide them via the context menu2) want them to go away on all pages for a certain time?-> Go to modern scroll's settings and use the "fullscreen only" option3) you don't want scroll bars at all; then there's no need for modern scroll. You wanna try sth like thisOriginally posted by max1c:

Agree. It's not working @ addons.opera.com either for whatever reason they might have. You have to complain to Opera here. They won't do anything about it, though

Couldn't you just add an option like that too? Mainly I like modern scroll for smooth scrolling. But if there was possibility to make scroll bats dissapear that's one extension working for two. ๐Ÿ˜€

You can make use of a bug (I haven't tested yet if it's Blink or Opera): manually enter "0" for bar's size in modern scroll's settings and you're fine ;)I'll maybe add this option in a future release. Should be very trivial with the current implementation.

Oh I see, more strings to translate.Edit:Portuguese 100%

  7. christoph142 said:

Wow, thanks a lot Andrรฉ!

  8. You're willkommen. :)I have updated some strings from options page now.One request:There's the option for external access, can you include access to toggle superbar? For Opera 12 specially because I want to set a custom mouse gesture to it.Superbar is nice, but its interface blocks page elements. Toggle it when needed would be nice.

  9. christoph142 said:

Should be doable. I'll add it to my to-do-list

  10. hey, do we have to translate the " change log" too ? looks huge hhhhhhh

  11. christoph142 said:

Partially. Having the whole changelog is "nice to have", but there's no need for it at this point of time. All I really need right now is the one of version 3.0.You can limit your work to those few strings :)btw: transifex offers possibilities for communication inside of projects as well as specific localizations. You can use them for localization-specific questions, too.

Yes, I've seen it :)Thanks a lot ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi!I am working on URDU translation, it will take some time, writing URDU is difficult procedure. :(, though description is almost complete.

  14. I found a problem. Not sure if it's only here: http://vk.com/feed?z=photo7241911_305304859%2Falbum7241911_00%2FrevBut, on vk.com when you open an image scrolling doesn't work.

I did it! Fuck Yeah! :ninja: @ChristophWhy you're not including the RC# in version number?I always doubt if it really installed the update.

  16. christoph142 said:

    Because I can't :down:Letters are impossible in Opera 15

  17. I need at least a week to compute this.

I can only reproduce this with the arrow keys. My tackpad works fine and I don't have a mouse available right now.I'm going to take a look at it :up:edit: for some reason, it behaves differently now and my trackpad fails, too.I hate inconsistent behavior… :ko:

  20. the link still point to the RC 6 ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. christoph142 said:

    Corrected. Thanks

  22. Also, apparently on Mac scroll bars are working in speeddial, stash and discover. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  23. christoph142 said:

They are working? What's the matter then? ^^

Well, it's good for Mac users I guess. But on windows it doesn't work. And I'm a windows user. ๐Ÿ˜€ Guess I'll try reporting it to Opera.

  25. christoph142 said:

OK now I gotcha :lol:I don't have access to a Mac, but you should definitely report this to Opera. They will probably make it NOT work on Macs anymore rather than making it possible on Windows, but it needs to be consistent. If you tell me the DNA-number of your bug report, I'll gladly support your request :up:Being allowed to manipulate speed dial and Co. would offer endless possibilities to invent a lot of awesome stuff… *dreaming*

Fixed. Will be ready for you to test in next RC… or final, if translations will be ready soon…:wait:

  27. Very nice, but it should work on pressing spacebar too.

  28. christoph142 said:

Are you on Mac?Cause pressing space over here (Windows 8) scrolls down with 2.4.4 in Opera 12.15 just as 3.0 in Opera 15 with custom scrolling function on or off…Or did you mean it should animate scrolling?

    Yes.

Try RC 8 then ๐Ÿ˜‰

  31. Can't install RC 8. Says: 'CRX_MAGIC_NUMBER_INVALID'.

    Ooops, sry. Fixed ๐Ÿ˜‰
