Extensions designed to enrich your browsing experience

Download Control
Download Control is nearing release.

For those of you who didn’t follow development already during earlier stages, you can find an elaboration of Download Control’s basic concept in its initial post.
You can also find some more in-depth knowledge there. So go ahead and read about using regexps and variables to maximize your rules’ efficiency if you like.
I’ll be waiting right here for you to come back 😛

Changes in RC 2:

Revert to background page for now as there are some newly introduced startup issues in current Chromium versions that make the extension fail to control downloads at all

What’s new in Download Control’s RC 1?

  • new: reorder rules in options page
  • fix: don’t delete downloads when finished if file is supposed to get “open”ed

Sounds cool? Give it a spin!

Get Download Control 1.0 RC 2 now 🙂

Any feedback??

Just installed. Working well for now 🙂

  2. Hi Christoph, it has been a long time. I’m still using O12 but in one of my tries of using new Opera I installed Download Control and now it’s crashing with Opera 24. It doesn’t even starts, it crashes right after opening Opera.

    All the luck to you.

  3. Chrome doesn’t have a way of it seems of changing what gets downloaded and what plays, any dieas how I get mp3s to simply download rather than play in the browser?

  4. Hey 🙂 as I promised – when downloading more files more pop-up is also shown. It’s not needed and to be honest in some specific cases one or more just stay opened (not closed) even all downloads are finished, cancelled or whatsoever… 🙂 so 1 pop-up for all downloads, is that possible? 🙂

Is it possible to specify separate destination folder for “Open” action which will be used without promt? I mean, I press “Open” and then Windows just opens the file with default program and the file gets into some separate directory (like Downloads\temp).

Could be cool if there was a prompt asking for a program to use. It better be engaged with modifier key (alt, ctrl etc while pressing “Open” in context menu).
